It's situated along the shores of the Sound of Sleat, opposite the southern end of Skye and faces 3 miles of sea towards the dramatic peaks of the Cullen mountains on Skye, and south to the islands of Eigg, Rhum and Muck.
Go just a bit further and you can explore some of the many beaches around Glenelg, One of them Sandaig bay where the author Gavin Maxwell wrote the novel Ring of Bright Water' from his cottage by the shore.
There are many spectacular Highland walks in the area allowing you to take full advantage of the Magnificent local scenery including everything you would expect from the West coats of Scotland including 3,000ft mountains, woodlands and waterfalls
there are also 2 Pictish brochs to explore, making Glenelg a perfect place for walking, cycling or just relaxing

Accommodation:
The house sleeps up to 7 people with an extra bed settee available on request. It's only a 5 minute walk to the shops and the superb local hotel.
The cottage has three bedrooms. One double, one triple and one twin with a further Double bed settee in the lounge available on request. The main bathroom has both a bath and shower and a brand new shower room / toilet recently added.
Outside, the gardens and patio areas have garden furniture and there is a barbecue/fire pit, ideal for dining alfresco in the summer months. Car parking space is available. The surroundings are very quiet and peaceful and you are minutes from fantastic walks and scenery. Alternatively you may well wish to sit back, enjoy the tranquility and watch the resident wildlife.
Directions:
Glenelg is situated 20 miles north of the Kyle of Lochalsh on Scotland's north west coast.
From Inverness take the A82 to Invermoriston and turn right onto the A887. Near Cluanie Dam, this road meets up with and becomes the A87 and leads directly to Shiel Bridge. After passing Shiel Bridge Shop and Service Station, road signs will indicate a left turn for Glenelg. These next 10 miles will bring you over the spectacular alpine-style mountain pass of Ratagan, down Glenmhor and onto the isolated beauty of Glenelg.
